MINUTES
Present: Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero, Vice Chairperson Mary Jo Shafer and Commission Member Ann McLaughlin. Also present: Senior Center Director Jo Ann Ewing.
Not Present: Sue Greeno and Alternate Patricia Dufour
Call to Order:
Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. at the East Hampton Senior Center.
Approval of Minutes:
The minutes from the January 10, 2013 meeting will be approved at the next meeting.
Public Remarks:
None
Correspondence:
None
Senior Services Report:
Ms. Ewing provided an update on the following:
- Tax preparation time has begun
- A listing of names of vulnerable seniors was given to the Police department
- She noted concerns following the storm and issues with the Everbridge system
- There are several March activities planned
- May is Older Americans Month
New Business:
The Commission discussed possible changes to the Commission on Aging ordinance including a change to 7 members and eliminating alternates.
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer to table the discussion of the ordinance. Voted (3-0).
Old Business:
Sub-Committee Reports:
Transportation – Ms. McLaughlin reviewed the transportation chart distributed at the last meeting. The survey to assess the needs of the elderly needs to be done; either as a commission or as part of a town survey.
Housing Authority Report:
Ms. McLaughlin reported that the Housing Authority is working on a grant application through DECD.
Public Remarks:
Rich Sheehan asked if any funds were found for the senior newsletter.
Adjournment:
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer, to adjourn the meeting at 4:15 p.m. Voted (3-0).
